NHC STAFF ON FRAUD ALERT [0800 701 701]

The National Heritage Council hosted an Ethics and Fraud Awareness Workshop on the 15th of November 2023 coordinated by the Audit and Risk Unit. This was to observe the International Fraud Week which was from 13 to 19 November 2023. This global initiative is for business leaders in the private, public sector and employees to proactively take steps in minimising the impact of fraud by promoting anti-fraud awareness and education.

All the Units in the NHC had presentations and interaction with the staff in attendance. Many were amazed by the vast field of ethics and expectations from the conduct of an employee. While some expectations of ethical conduct were already practiced by staff, the evolution in this area presents higher levels of awareness at all times which is what the workshop achieved. Fraud awareness is critical at a time when organisations around the world lose an estimated 5 percent of their annual revenues to fraud.
