Indigenous Food Exhibition and Intergenerational Dialogue to Highlight Role of Traditional Knowledge in Sustainable Development

The National Heritage Council of South Africa (NHC), in partnership with Nyamukuvha Ngwaniwapo NPC, will host an Indigenous Food Exhibition and Intergenerational Dialogue on Saturday, 28 March 2026 in Tshidzivhe, Limpopo Province.

 

The event aims to promote the importance of indigenous food systems in advancing sustainable development, strengthening climate resilience, and preserving South Africa’s rich cultural heritage.

 

Bringing together a diverse group of participants, including elders, youth, farmers, cultural practitioners, researchers, and community members, the gathering will serve as a platform for knowledge exchange, dialogue, and celebration of traditional food practices.

 

“Indigenous knowledge systems remain critical in addressing today’s challenges, particularly in relation to food security, climate change, and cultural preservation,” said Dr Thabo Manetsi, Chief Executive Officer at the NHC.
