NHC Supports the Intergenerational Dialogue On Cultural Values And Traditions
The National Heritage Council of South Africa (NHC) in collaboration with the Bathlaping Ba-Ga Mothibi and the North West Department of Arts, Culture, Sports and Recreation, will host an Intergenerational Dialogue under the theme: Raise a Girl Child with Dignity and Boyhood to Manhood symposium. The intergenerational dialogue aims to emphasize the importance of knowledge sharing between the elderly and the younger generations to foster a deeper understanding of cultural values and traditions.
The dialogue also serves as a platform to empower the youth to embrace their identity with pride, while also the knowledge bearers educating school children and young people about the cultural practices, customs and traditions of their community. A key component of the proceedings includes re-telling the histories and heritage of the Batlhaping Ba -Ga Mothibi to ensure that future generations can learn and appreciate their roots.

As part of the dialogue, elderly women will take young girls of age through a series of moral guidance and ask questions to educate them on issues of self-respect and independence and
emphasise the issue of unity and community building
The distinguished speakers will lead the dialogue during the event, focusing on key cultural and historical themes. Thatanngwe Gasebake and Sephai Mngqolo will present on the History
of Batlhaping and Remembering Kgosi Galeshewe, offering insights into the legacy and heritage of the Batlhaping people. Boikanyo Ramogoelelo and Kagiso Kaebas will lead the discussion on the Restoration of our Cultural Values and Beliefs, highlighting the importance of preserving and reviving traditional practices and identity.
The dialogue presents an important opportunity to honor the rich and indelible legacy of Kgosi Galeshewe, address contemporary societal challenges, and ensure the transmission of Batlhaping heritage to future generations.
