NHC Strengthens awareness on Fraud and Corruption
The National Heritage Council (NHC) in its effort to a free fraud and corruption entity with good governance held a workshop led by the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation (Hawks) on 15 November 2024.
The enlightening workshop included presentations about Fraud, Cybercrime and Corruption which were delivered by specialists from the South African Police Service unit which investigates organised crime, economic crime, corruption, and other serious crime referred to it by the President or another division of the police – the Hawks.
They further assessed the mitigation tools and systems in the NHC to eliminate fraud and corruption.
The terms Fraud and Corruption were clearly defined with South Africa’s Cybercrime Act No. 19 of 2020, officially signed into law on 1 December 2021, was unpacked to the staff. NHC’s ICT security measures, business processes, policies were discussed on a high level. Some of the factors Continued engagements and awareness programmes on fraud and corruption will be conducted during its stakeholder engagements.
