Mr Oliver Tambo’s legacy preserved with a life-size statue

 

President Jacob Zuma unveiled a life-size statue of Mr Oliver Reginald Tambo at the O.R. Tambo International Airport in Ekurhuleni, Gauteng. The ceremony formed part of the O.R. Tambo centenary celebrations that are being held across the country under the theme “Life and Legacy of OR Tambo”.

The ceremony honoured and celebrate Mr Tambo’s great life and legacy as well as acknowledge the sacrifices and immense contribution he made towards a free, non-racial, non-sexist and democratic South Africa.

During the ceremony President Zuma also unveiled a bust and officially rename the Air Traffic and Navigation Services (ATNS) auditorium and tower after the liberation struggle icon, to further honour Mr Tambo.
