Call for Nominations/Applications

The National Heritage Council (NHC) of South Africa, constituted through the NHC Act, 1999 (Act 11 of 1999), requires the services of members to serve on the Audit Committee established in accordance with section 77 of the Public Finance Management Act 1 of 1999, as amended. The NHC is responsible for the preservation, protection and promotion of heritage for sustainable development.


• Auditing and Accounting

• Finance

• Information Technology

• Risk Management



• Exposure to and knowledge of internal audit and external audit functions

• Risk Management

• The Public Finance Management Act, 1999 and Treasury Regulations

• Corporate Governance Principles

• Knowledge of the Heritage sector will be an added advantage


Terms of appointment: The successful applicant will be one of the three external members of the Audit and Risk Committee of the NHC and appointed for a term of three years. The committee is expected to regulate and discharge all its responsibilities as contained in an Audit and Risk Committee Charter which sets out the appropriate terms of reference. The committee meets at least four times a year and additional meetings may be convened as deemed by the Audit and Risk Committee.  Meetings will be held during working hours, unless necessitated by circumstances.

Remuneration: The successful applicant will be remunerated for attendance of meetings as determined by the National Treasury. All other refundable expenses are based on NHC’s related policies.

The National Heritage Council (NHC) seeks the expertise of professionals, who are qualified and experienced in various heritage disciplines to serve as members of the Panel that will assist the NHC to advance its mandate, especially in the areas of policy, research and content development of heritage programmes.

The Panel of Experts on heritage programmes will constitute of between six (6) to ten (10) members.

Once appointed, the support that NHC may request Panel members, individually or collectively to undertake could include representing it in key forums as it may deem fit and appropriate for and on its behalf.

Members of the Panel will be remunerated in terms of a prescribed fee structure as approved by National Treasury and/or the Council of the NHC.

Upon acceptance to serve on the Panel, each member will be required to sign a Service Level Agreement or Contract in order to formalise the work relations and engagement with the NHC.

Five (5) year fixed-term contract position

The National Heritage Council of South Africa (NHC) whose mandate encompasses the protection, promotion and preservation of heritage, seeks the professional services of a qualified, self-motivated, driven and goal oriented candidate for the position of Human Resource Manager to join its senior management team.

This position reports to the Chief Financial Officer as Head of Corporate Services and calls for a strategic and hands-on candidate to lead and ensure that the NHC employs, retains, develops and motivates high-calibre employees at all levels, to be able to achieve heritage operational and strategic objectives.The incumbent will form part of the NHC Senior Management Team and as such will be required to provide operational direction and support to the senior management team and line management, with extensive experience in HR. The incumbent must be willing to undergo competency tests.

Supply Chain Management Administrator

We seek the professional services of a self-motivated, driven and goal oriented candidate for the position of Supply Chain Management Administrator. The position is permanent, attracts a market related remuneration package and based in Pretoria.


Job Function

Provide Administrative functions within the SCM unit while ensuring value for money.



  • Demand, Acquisition Logistic and Disposal management in line with SCM policies and procedures.
  • Handle all SCM queries and provide the necessary advice to  employees.
  • Administration and risk assessment relating to maintenance  of procured assets.
  • Implement SCM policies.
  • Assist in the compilation of procurement reports and statistics.
  • Manage the asset register and record movement of assets within the NHC.
  • Perform all administrative duties relating to bid processes.
  • Administer and maintain the contract records relating to procurement services.



  • Degree or Diploma in Supply Chain Management or equivalent qualification
  • 3 years relevant experience  Supply Chain Management
  • Knowledge of and use of Pastel
  • Good understanding of the Public Finance management Act and procurement practices
  • Computer literacy, planning, administrative, reporting and communications skills
  • Code EB driver’s license and willingness to travel on NHC business when required
