The Eastern Cape Provincial Government is embarking on an interesting journey to brand itself as the hub of many leaders that have contributed to the history of South Africa. It is also one of the provinces that has adopted the preservation of the Liberation Heritage. The Liberation Heritage Route is a project of the NHC that seeks to identify and protect the historically significant events, people and sites. These historical memories will form a representation of the story of the liberation struggles through a network of heritage sites that are recognised by the UNESCO World Heritage Committee.
The Eastern Cape Province has now adopted this concept and broadened it to shape the identity of the province to become the ‘Home of Legends’. The citizens of the province are now consulted to contribute to this vision and express their views on how it can be realised. The questionnaire that seeks to assist the research team to assess the public views can be downloaded below, completed and returned to the email addresses as indicated on the form. The closing date for the public contributions is 30 November 2015.
